ruru · vision, for land  |  for iwi, incorporations, and the whenua held in common

See the whole of what you hold.
Then make it provide.

Helping you see the whole of the whenua you hold, and bring it to life - now, and for those yet to come. Approached with iwi and hapū, tikanga-led and on your terms. ruru is a tool for kaitiakitanga and ahi kā, never a substitute.

Much of the most precious whenua in Aotearoa sits under-worked - not because no one cared, but because caring was never the problem. Land was alienated and confiscated, locked under Crown control, and fragmented by a title system that split a single block among hundreds, even thousands of owners. The potential was never absent. It was scattered, the way the people were scattered. No one could see the whole.

You own your captures, your plans and your data. Mana motuhake stays with you, and we stay in the background.

What ruru is

A photo of a block becomes a plan for the whenua.

For each block, ruru reads the land and the owners, weighs every honourable use through three lenses, and lands on the one worth backing. Then it builds the plan - and the commercial case alongside the kaitiakitanga - so a block can sustain the people who belong to it. Land that earns is land that can be kept, worked and handed on.

Four ways ruru helps the whenua you hold

See the whole. Plan each hectare. Back the change. Keep the mana.

See the whole estate

From the commercial blocks to the dormant, landlocked and multiply-owned, ruru reads each one into a single living picture of the rohe - so you can see, and plan, the whole of what you hold.

A best-use plan for every hectare

A site-and-owner plan, each block weighed through economy, ecology and the generations - a model where regeneration and rongoā count.

The supports, navigated for you

The funding road for whenua development, the dense paperwork each route demands, and the right independent specialist - prepared and matched, so the path is reachable, not lost in the forms.

Your tikanga, your data, on every block

Your standards, kawa and compliance reach every block consistently. Each whānau keeps its own captures and voice. You stay the trusted face for your people.

Whenua funding has its own road - through MPI Māori Agribusiness, Te Tumu Paeroa, Te Puni Kōkiri, Ngā Whenua Rāhui and others - and often a governance and succession layer before any capital moves. ruru holds that path and walks it with you, in partnership.

How it works

See · plan · do · sell

1

See

AI reads any phone or drone photo into a clear visual report. No hardware, no training, no cost to start.

Built
2

Plan

A site-and-owner best-use plan, with the right funder, specialist and governance pathway matched.

Built
3

Do

Approve it and ruru builds the calendar, tasks and materials; compliance compiles as the kaitiaki walks and talks.

Built
4

Sell

De-risk by pre-selling some harvest forward; sell the balance fresh - built next.

Funded-next

Everyone has a mobile, and it sees what the person on the ground sees. ruru starts from a photo, so anyone who can walk the whenua - an owner, a kaumātua, a rangatahi on a working bee - can use it.

Every plan weighed through three lenses

Not maximum production. Best and most honourable use.

Economy

Keeping more value with the people who hold the land, without over-relying on a single buyer or over-supplying the next glut.

Ecology

Right for the land - biodiversity, soil, water and carbon. Regeneration counts as a productive use.

Intergenerational

Built to endure for the whānau, for the whenua, and for the uri yet to come - handed on in better heart than it was received.

Reaching land too scattered to coordinate one by one

One relationship, many owners.

A forecast for every block

Each block's intelligence compounds every season and networks across the estate into an aggregated harvest forecast you can see before anyone else.

One relationship, many owners

Reach a cluster of dispersed blocks, trusts and whānau through a single relationship - land too scattered to coordinate one by one.

Good neighbours

Shared contractors, pest and biosecurity maps, spray windows - collaboration that lowers everyone's cost and risk across neighbouring blocks and beyond.

Owners keep their data and their voice

Each whānau owns its captures and its plan. ruru is multi-tenant by design; you stay the trusted face for your people, and the intelligence is yours.

Brought to life - illustrative

The land that always knew its own worth.

Within fifty kilometres of one town sit nearly four thousand separate blocks - many never surveyed, some with no legal road, a single block carrying hundreds of owners. The knowledge was never lost: it lives in the kaumātua who remember what a flat once grew, in the cousin still running a few cattle out the back. What was missing was a way to see the whole, and a way to bring it to life.

Approached in partnership, ruru lets one person walk a block and capture it, another add a hive up the road, a working bee record hundreds of seedlings - all compounding into one living picture of the rohe. It reads each block for what it could honourably become, and helps bring those uses to life, building the commercial case alongside the kaitiakitanga.

Whatungarongaro te tangata, toitū te whenua.

As people disappear from sight, the land remains.

ruru helps the people who remain see the whole of what they hold, make it provide, and pass it on for those not yet born.

We would welcome a conversation, kanohi ki te kanohi.
